There are several ways in which to make a start.
If you want to master color mixing on a practical level, without any theory, I would suggest that you start with a Mixing Palette and ideally at least the set of six principal mixing colors. You should consider adding the other six colors later. Alternatively our home study course "Practical Color Mixing" together with a palette and paints. This will give you a very thorough grounding.

If, at the same time as learning to mix color, you wished to make a record of your results, the "Color Mixing Mini Course" would be a useful addition.

If you are interested in why certain colors result from mixing, as well as information on transparency etc. the book "Blue and Yellow Don't Make Green" will answer your needs.

If you are working to a fixed budget I would suggest that you start with the Mixing Palette and add on from there.
