Jeannette Seger from Kansas

An art teacher and fine artist, who works in a variety of mediums-watercolor, acrylic, oil and graphite pencil. The ever-changing landscape, the seasons with their emotion and mystery has become her favorite subject. The old barns, windmills and grain elevators in Kansas hold a special interest for her paintings.

Jeannette was born and raised in Newton, Kansas, graduating from Newton High School in 1957. Her inspiration and early art instruction came from high school art teacher, Marie Orr. Attended Bethel College, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arkansas. Previous to her return to Newton, Kansas in 2000, she lived in Little Rock, Arkansas and Goldsboro, North Carolina.

As a practicing artist she has had many one-woman exhibits of her work. The most recent was at the Lester Raymer Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg, Kansas where she was also artist in residence. Many awards have been added to her credit and commissions for special projects. A recent Marquee painting of the Historic Fox Theatre for their restoration fund raising is of nostalgic interest to Jeannette. She is serving on the Fox Theatre board of directors. Since her return to Newton, she is serving on the board of directors for the Newton Fine Arts Association as secretary. Volunteering her time to help out at the Carriage Factory Gallery. Promoting the arts along with her teaching has always been her goal. Describing Art-"as being something that has been personally seen, felt or experienced."

Her paintings are in the private and corporate collections to name a few: Dupont Corporation, Dillard's Department Stores, Roach Paper Company, Sherwood, AR City Hall, Commercial National Bank and Federal Home Loan Bank in Little Rock, AR, Craven Arts Council, New Bern, NC, Lenoir County Arts Council, Kinston, NC. Art galleries in Arkansas, No. Carolina and Kansas have exhibited and sold her work. A wide variety of teaching experiences have been thoroughly enjoyed by this artist.
