By unraveling the many ambiguities and myths inherent in the established way of working, I have attempted to transform colour mixing from a haphazard affair into a thinking process. You will come to realize the following: A pure yellow and a pure blue would make black not green, a pure red and a pure blue would also produce black. Six colours, carefully chosen and skillfully used, are all that are required to produce a vast range of mixes. The artists' primaries do not even exist as pure colours and, if they did, they would be quite useless to us. Stop mixing 'mud' and wasting expensive materials.
