In some books you are asked to mix 3 parts of A with 2 parts of colour B and 8 parts of white etc. I am puzzled by this and wonder how you would go about it. Have you any suggestions?
B. Coleman

This approach is an absolute nonsense as it depends on the strength of each individual colour. Even a basic knowledge of colour mixing would show this to be another example of the poor advice which is so often given. Even if you were able to measure paint out to this degree and it did give the specified colour, it would be one hue amongst the vast range which might be employed in a painting.
